Prior to her 10-year stint as CEO of Singapore-based Globecast Asia, she held international leadership positions with General Instrument and L3 Communications. This experience leaves her with a deep interest and insights into the interplay between global business and geopolitics and the impact of economic statecraft on business decisions. During her tenure as CEO, she was named one of the Most Powerful Women in Media in Asia in June 2013.

She runs our Women in Leadership program and also facilitates strategic management workshops, in particular those involving multicultural, multilingual teams across borders made up of senior executive leaders. Her background brings real-world business experience from a rapidly-changing, disruptive industry into our programs.

As well as being a Faculty Lecturer in Management & Organizations at Texas Tech University (Costa Rica campus) and mentor to MBA students, Darby is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Antwerp’s Management School, focusing on the foreign direct investment nexus between China and Latin America. In what remains of her free time, she is looking for NGO board opportunities related to protecting animals and the environment.

Darby was born and raised in Miami and has since lived, studied and worked in Washington DC, Morocco, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Singapore and Paris. She currently lives in the mountains of central Costa Rica with her husband and a very large brood of animals.
