In his previous professional life, he spent three decades in banking and finance working on Wall Street for some of the most prominent names in the industry, including but not limited to Drexel Burnham Lambert; Waddell & Reed; Barings; Dresdner; Okasan; and Nomura. He then moved into private equity, where he was often installed into executive management of acquired companies. He worked primarily in Japan but also served a two-year stint as CEO of a tech start-up in Poland. This combined experience gives him deep insights into managing businesses across borders while simultaneously implementing change. He still advises various companies, primarily devising market entry strategies into Japan.
After unofficially retiring from banking and finance, he was an adjunct professor for six years at his MBA alma mater, the Stern School of Business at New York University (Tokyo Campus). In addition to teaching courses in business and finance, he conducted training seminars in cross-cultural business communication, business writing, negotiation and presentation for various blue chip Japanese companies.
At RedBikeHRD, he is our lead trainer for accounting and finance modules of our training while also sharing his insights into the worlds of finance and executive management within our leadership development programs. His professional certifications include David Novak Leadership and financial industry Series 7, 23 and 24.
Among his passions are helping those less fortunate, particularly the mentally handicapped, which inspired his work with the Polish-based and European Union-funded Thoughts Without Borders charity. He has since established a Japanese subsidiary, for whom he now serves as CEO.
Steve was born in Cleveland, studied in Buffalo, Columbus (Ohio), Taipei, and New York City and has since worked in New York City, Kansas City, Krakow and Tokyo.
